We're Moving!! Sincerly, The Books

Hello fellow peeps!!

A lot of things have been happening here in the Children's Library over the last few days. For starters, we are getting a lot of new books in for the holidays (which are on the display cart next to the toy area... but they are going fast so make sure you come in and make your holiday selections!)

Next, as the saying goes 'out with the old (or damaged) and in with the new!' As we are approaching the New Year we are preparing our Library for the change as all. How do we do this? We read the shelves, we weed the books, and finally we shift the books to make room for the new books that are coming. However this is quite a time consuming process so for the next few days we hope you will cooperate with our transitions.
So just what does reading the shelves mean??
When we read the shelves we make sure that all of the books are in order and that they will be where they are supposed to be when YOU are looking for a book. Because we all know that a book in the wrong place is a lost book. Being lost is no fun.

What is weeding?
When we weed the shelves we take books off that are damaged, older, or not really what you want to read anymore. We do this for several reason one being that if we didn't pull the damaged books then the quality of books that you check out would not be what we would want for you. Secondly, if we didn't weed the books we would not have enough space to shelve the new books.

What do we do with the books that we weeded?
Well, we try to save as many books as we can. However, sometimes the books are so old and damaged that most of them have to go to the recycling center. However, some can be saved and those we send to the Friends of the Library Bookstore where the books are sold to make money for new books. Then who knows, maybe you were looking for the book that we put down there to complete your series. So you should check out the Bookstore located in the basement of the main Library.

What does shifting the books mean?
After we read and weed the books there is usually a lot of space left where the old and/or damaged books used to be. So we shift all of the books along the way so that everyone has a new and room-ier home. So, essentially all of the books have moved. If you can't find a book you would like to read, just let us know and we will help you find the books. Fiction books and Everybody reads have been moved so far.

So far we are about half way through the fiction and completely done with the Everybody Reads. Here is a picture of the completed Everybody Reads.

Well that's whats going on here. We hope that you are having a great day and have had a good week!!
Next week is THANKSGIVING!! What are you thankful for?
See you soon Peeps!
Lindsey
