He Had a Dream

As you may or may not know the Library will be closed Monday, January 16th in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great leader and a pursuer of civil rights. Instead of using fists, Martin Luther King, Jr. and his followers used words to get their points across. His "I Have a Dream" Speech , I feel, is still one of the most poetic cries for freedom. And his cause is still just, even today.

There is so much to learn about Martin Luther King, Jr. and your library would like to help you with that journey. We have several books, already pulled and waiting for you, about Martin Luther King, Jr. and the rest of the King family in the Children's Library. Come by and check them out.

While you are visiting the library stop in our Orwin Reading Room (Kentucky Room) and see our Kentucky's History in the Civil War exhibit brought to us by the Kentucky Historical Society Museum. The exhibit tells Kentucky's story in the Civil War in 6 parts. The exhibit will be here until January 31st.

As you are learning about the Civil War join Pulaski County in the 150th Anniversary Event Reenactment. The reenactment will be taking place on Saturday, January 21st at 10:00 A.M and at 1:00 P.M and again on Sunday, January 22nd at 10:00 A.M.. The 'Battle of Mill Springs' reenactment will take place in Nancy, which is 9 miles west of Somerset.

Also, don't forget about some of the events that the Library will be having for our little peeps coming up in the next little bit.
Thursday, 26th @ 6:00- American Girl Program: Come join us as we celebrate Ivy (Julie's best friend.) We will be having a craft, some stories, snacks, and a prize. As always, you do NOT have to have a doll to attend.
